Applications

Routine bacterial cultivation; general microbiological assays; laboratory research workflows.

Formulation

Per liter: peptone 5 g; beef extract 3 g; sodium chloride 5 g. Finished-product release pH: 7.0 ± 0.2.

Storage

Unopened: Store at 4–30°C. Ambient storage within this range is acceptable for shorter-term use; refrigeration is recommended for longer-term storage. After opening: Refrigerate and use appropriate aseptic handling. Brief excursions above 30°C during normal shipping are acceptable; avoid prolonged excessive heat and temperatures low enough to cause freezing.

Shelf life

Unopened: 2 years. After opening: Up to 6 months when refrigerated and handled appropriately using aseptic technique.

Quality control

Growth tested with suitable microorganisms to confirm expected growth. After filling, bottles are observed for a minimum of 48 hours for evidence of unintended microbial growth as a contamination/sterility QC check. Finished-product pH, appearance, and fill volume are verified. Each finished unit receives a lot number for traceability. Media are sterilized by autoclaving; autoclave sterilization is monitored using biological/spore indicators and temperature-sensitive chemical indicator tape. Components requiring separate treatment are filter sterilized.

Nutrient Broth is supplied sterile and ready to use for routine cultivation of non-fastidious bacteria and general microbiological research workflows.

Select the appropriate volume, inoculate using aseptic technique, and incubate under the conditions required by your organism and protocol.
